Dr. Peter Bracha is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of retinal and vitreous conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, retinal tears and detachments, macular surgery, and surgical management of visually significant vitreous floaters.


Dr. Bracha is excited to join Florida Retina Specialists and serve the Space Coast community after five years of caring for patients across Iowa and Wisconsin. He is passionate about delivering the same level of care he would want for his own family—thorough, thoughtful, and compassionate. “I believe in listening closely to each patient and creating personalized treatment plans that reflect their unique needs,” he shares.

 

Born in the Czech Republic and raised in Arizona and Iowa, Dr. Bracha completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at Truman State University, where he graduated summa cum laude and earned Academic All-American honors twice as a collegiate tennis player. He received his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at Indiana University, serving as Chief Resident and earning the Merrill Grayson Leadership Award. His advanced vitreoretinal surgical fellowship was completed at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was honored with the Resident Teaching Award.

Dr. Bracha has been actively involved in clinical research, contributing to over 20 peer-reviewed publications, more than 10 abstracts, and several book chapters. He has performed thousands of retinal procedures, including injections, laser treatments, and complex surgeries.

  • Laser Retinopexy

  • Pan Retinal Photocoagulation

  • Focal Laser for macular edema

  • Subretinal Tissue Plasminogen Activator for large subretinal hemorrhage

  • Pneumatic Retinopexy

  • Flourescein Angiography, ICG

  • Intravitreal Injections (Avastin, Lucentis, Eylea, etc.)

  • Optical Coherence Tomography

  • Heidelberg Retinal Tomography

  • Sub Tenons Kenalog Injection

  • Eye Ultrasound (B-Scan)

Outside of medicine, Dr. Bracha enjoys spending time with his wife, Molly, and their two young sons. Together, they are embracing life on the Space Coast and look forward to enjoying Florida’s sunshine (with sunscreen, of course). In his free time, he practices yoga, has rekindled his childhood love of chess, and aspires to take up golf and fishing.
