David Neely, M.D.
Board Certified Ophthalmologist
Vitreoretinal surgeon
Dr. David Neely received his Medical degree from the University of Alabama, after Undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences at Auburn University.
He completed his Internship in General Surgery at Vanderbilt University, and continued onto his Ophthalmology Residency at Callahan Eye Hospital, University of Alabama, Birmingham.
He rounded out his final two years Fellowship in Vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at Retina Consultants of Alabama, U.A.B.

Dr Neely joined FRS in 2018 after Fellowship, but left in 2020 to pursue their dream of full-time medical missions.
"The past five years away from the Space Coast have been both meaningful and rewarding for my family and me. We relocated to my wife’s home country of Nicaragua, where we had the opportunity to help establish a free ophthalmology clinic and surgical center." explains Dr Neely.
"Over time, this effort grew into a national referral center, serving patients throughout Nicaragua, as well as neighboring countries. Even after our return to the United States, the clinic, surgical center, and referral network have continued to expand – providing free medical and surgical ophthalmic care to underserved communities in the region."

"We are thankful to be back in the USA and continue to raise our family in the beautiful, safe, and convenient community of the Space Coast."
"It is a blessing to work with the best retina colleagues in the area with Florida Retina Specialists. As your Retina doctor, I will strive to care for every patient with the same attention and respect I would want for my own family."
Dr. Neely enjoys spending time with his wife, Jill, and their three young children. They love traveling as a family, visiting outdoor parks, and getting to know their new community.
Dr. Neely is also fluent in conversational Spanish.
