Though new to Brevard County, Dr. Peter Bracha brings more than a decade of

experience in treating the complete range of retinal eye conditions. Just as important is

also the fact that Dr. Peter Bracha shares Florida Retina Specialists’ treatment

philosophy of expert, personalized and empathetic care, a standard that has earned the

practice a reputation as the premier specialist for retinal issues in East Central Florida.

“I feel fortunate to be part of a practice that is deeply professional, ethical and

compassionate,” said Dr. Bracha, who practiced in Iowa and Wisconsin before joining

Dr. Frank Venzara III, Dr. Eric Guglielmo and the rest of the team at Florida Retinal

Specialists.

A board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon, Dr. Bracha is passionate about delivering

thorough, thoughtful, and compassionate care. A summa cum laude graduate from

Missouri’s Truman State University, he received his medical degree from Creighton

University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega

Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Indiana

University, where he served as chief resident and earned the Merrill Grayson

Leadership Awar. His advanced vitreoretinal surgical fellowship was completed at the

University of Pennsylvania, where he was honored with the Resident Teaching Award.

Active in clinical research, Dr. Bracha has contributed to dozens of professional medical

journals and to several book chapters. He has performed thousands of retinal

procedures, including injections, laser treatments and complex surgeries.

Dr. Bracha feels blessed to be able to provide patients with ever-expanding treatment

options.

“The field of retina has seen remarkable progress in the past decade, with new

treatments and technologies emerging at a rapid pace,” he explained. “Since I began

my ophthalmology training over a decade ago, we’ve gained therapies for geographic

atrophy(an advanced form of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) that causes

progressive and irreversible vision loss), as well as more effective and longer-lasting

treatments for age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, a

complication of diabetes that can cause vision loss and blindness.”

Each patient receives a custom treatment plan, regardless of issue.

“We tailor each treatment plan to the individual needs and goals of our patients,” Dr.

Bracha said.

Advances in imaging and surgical equipment have significantly improved the ability to

diagnose and manage complex conditions with greater precision and safety.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to offer patients access to these innovations and to work

closely with them to develop personalized treatment plans that help preserve or restore

their vision,” Dr. Bracha said.

“Today, we can repair retinal detachments, remove floaters, close macular holes and

peel epiretinal membranes with far less risk than was possible in the past.”

Florida Retinal Specialists state-of-the-art medical management of conditions such as

macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy provide patients with newer, more

effective medications that work rapidly and for longer.

“This means fewer injections, fewer office visits and reduced risk of complications over

time, all of which contribute to better patient outcomes and quality of life,” Dr. Bracha

said. “Our aim is to provide expert, personalized care in a supportive and welcoming

environment for every patient at every visit.”

Dr. Peter Bracha is accepting new patients at Florida Retina Specialists’ offices at

280 N. Sykes Creek Pkwy, Suite B, Merritt Island, and at 2329 Medico Lane, Suite

103, Viera.
